The Joy of Generosity Leading and Achieving Goals through Philanthropy w/Bethany Shue Nussbaum

Picture of BethanyDevelopment officers – sometimes known as fundraisers – are charged with helping support an organization’s financial well being by soliciting and securing donations. Commonly known as ‘gifts,’ the money comes from donors that have been sought out by the fundraiser.  A wise development officer knows this process is not about begging. It is about connecting the gifts and desires of people with resources and desires of others. In other words, people like my friend Bethany expose people with financial capacity to the joys of generosity.

Sometimes stepping out is not singularly about realizing your own dreams, but it is helping to create networks that empowers many.

Bethany’s work is touching the lives of entrepreneurs around the world.  Bethany Nussbaum is a Senior Development Officer for MEDA currently living in Orrville, Ohio with her husband Scott. With 10 years of professional experience in development and various leadership roles, Bethany is passionate about empowering and developing others through connecting people and building relationships. Bethany is a 2008 graduate of Values-Based Leadership Program and a current member of the steering committee. In 2013 she helped launch a youth leadership development program, LEAD3D, that she co-facilitates annually. She earned her MBA with a concentration in leadership from Goshen College in 2016, and recently created and co-lead a retreat for women in leadership this September.
